CBD is a buzzword that is popping up in everything from your favorite skincare lotions to your favorite gummies. You can find it in virtually any product that claims to be all-natural. Not all CBD products, however, are created equally, and it’s important to know a little about CBD, how it works, and what products actually contain an ideal amount of CBD extract, and which are just meant for pure hype.

At KULCBD, we make it our goal to know CBD oil products inside and out. We offer information and products that contain the right amounts of CBD so that you get the most benefit for your money and don’t get anything that you don’t need. Let’s dive right in and find out more about this trend-worthy ingredient, and how it can be beneficial as a part of your already health-driven lifestyle.

What is CBD?

CBD is short for cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is one of over 100 cannabinoids contained in the hemp plant or cannabis plant. Among those 100 is also the cannabinoid THC, the psychoactive element in marijuana that causes a user to feel “high” due to its interaction with the endocannabinoid system. Unlike THC, however, CBD is non-psychoactive and does not produce any type of “high” when used internally or topically. That brings us to the FAQ about whether or not CBD can be safely used without side effects. The answer is generally a resounding yes. In fact, there are three different ways CBD oil is integrated into a product. Here is a breakdown of the three ways CBD products can be formulated.

CBD oil isolate. Some products that claim to contain the full benefit of a CBD product contain CBD oil isolate. CBD isolate refers to CBD oil that is extracted from the hemp seed by itself. It retains no other portions of the hemp plant and is strictly hemp CBD in pure form. While you may think this is sufficient for receiving the maximum benefit of CBD, it’s actually the least effective method of delivering CBD to a user because the chemical compounds in the hemp plant need to work concurrently to deliver the best impact, which is also referred to as the “entourage effect,” but more on that below!

Broad spectrum CBD oil. A CBD product that contains broad-spectrum CBD oil contains CBD oil along with other portions of the hemp plant, except for THC. This means that unlike CBD isolate, some of the other beneficial elements of hemp oil are retained and extracted along with the CBD to help make it more effective. This oil is especially popular with people who want to make sure that the CBD they use contains no THC.

Full spectrum CBD oil. Generally seen as the most effective of CBD oils, full-spectrum CBD oil contains all the elements the hemp plant has to offer. In other words, not just CBD, but all other cannabinoids, minerals, terpenes, flavonoids, fiber, and compounds that the plant naturally contains. It is only through the extraction of the entire hemp plant that a CBD oil can claim to have the “entourage effect.” The entourage effect occurs when all the elements of the hemp plant work together to deliver a greater impact in a product. The reliance of each of the hemp plant’s compounds on one another to work effectively makes full-spectrum CBD oil the best choice for anyone who may not see the results they’re looking for in a broad spectrum product, and if cannabis is legal in their state.

CBD will always be added to a CBD product as one of these formulas. Full spectrum CBD oil is seen as the best way to gain all the benefits that CBD oil has to offer, however for those who prefer an extraction free of THC, the broad spectrum and isolates are available. Isolates tend to be cheaper to extract but are less potent, so be wary of products that claim to provide full-spectrum benefits with only an isolate oil.

What Are the Benefits of CBD Products?

CBD has been used for centuries for its healing properties. It’s first documented use was in 2737 BC when the Chinese used it in tea to relieve symptoms of memory loss, gout, and malaria. Surprised? That’s understandable since cannabis has been prohibited and taboo for so long. However, chemists and scientists have been able to extract and isolate different cannabinoids from the hemp plant for decades. Therefore, we can rely on these decades of science when considering the benefits of CBD and whether or not it actually is beneficial for us. As such, here are some of our favorite benefits of using CBD products.

Soothing. CBD oil, especially in full-spectrum form, has excellent soothing properties. Not only is your body able to use CBD internally, but it can also be effective when applied externally. CBD oil can have a natural calming and soothing effect on the skin, which can help to reduce redness and, itchy skin. Internally, CBD products are said to help promote a calming effect.

Fatty acids. CBD oil contains medium-chain triglycerides, or “MCT,” which are the good fats your skin and body need. Externally, your body uses MCTs to help keep your skin looking young and youthful. Internally, your body uses MCTs to help maintain healthy cholesterol levels. There’s even some research that suggests MCTs can help with muscle mass development. That’s great news for anyone looking to increase their muscle mass naturally.

Oil cleansing. You may not believe it, but one of the best things to use to cleanse your skin is CBD oil. Oil dissolves oil, and as such, a great CBD product to try on your skin is an exfoliating cleanser. A CBD exfoliating cleanser can work to dissolve the excess sebum from acne-prone or oily skin and can help you reclaim your skin’s natural moisture balance without stripping it of oil in dry places or over-hydrating it in oily spots. It can help improve any combination of combination skin.

Promotion of overall health. As if the above benefits weren’t enough to convince you to give CBD products a try, many users simply take CBD oil to promote their overall health and wellbeing. Users of CBD products, specifically those who take it sublingually, report a feeling of overall promoted wellness and health.

What is CBD?

This is totally up to the user. It really depends on how you want to address your own health and beauty concerns. If you want to approach your wellness and beauty routine from an all-natural, holistic standpoint, CBD products can be a great choice. It’s simply a matter of determining which products to use. At KULCBD, CBD products are our thing. Here are our favorite ways to get the most benefit from daily CBD usage by incorporating CBD products throughout your daily routine.

Skincare. Possibly our favorite CBD products, these skincare routine add-ons are brimming with full-spectrum CBD, available and ready to be consumed by thirsty skin. To get the most CBD benefit, you really need only four products: a great exfoliating cleanser, an anti-aging moisturizer, a high-quality serum, and a night cream. This will provide a full morning and evening cleansing routine that can deliver the full entourage effect of full-spectrum CBD to your skin.

  • It is important to note that you should use these products together so that they can work in parallel to help heal, hydrate, and promote your skin’s overall health. One of the first benefits users normally notice is an overall “glow.”. Be careful when selecting CBD products for your skin to make sure that they also contain other healthy, skin-promoting ingredients. Look for products that combine CBD and a probiotic. Additionally, you can look for other all-natural ingredients, like green tea and fruit extracts.

Tinctures. Another CBD product that can be beneficial to overall health is a CBD tincture. It should be noted that some CBD tinctures contain alcohol, but this is not standard. The highest-quality CBD tinctures usually contain MCT, full-spectrum hemp extract, a terpene blend, and usually a flavor of some sort, such as green tea or vanilla.

  • Tinctures are made to be either taken sublingually or added to products, drinks, or foods you prepare. For example, an increasingly popular way to deliver a tincture is to add it to a beverage such as a tea or a smoothie.
  • Tinctures are very popular for aiding with sleep, and as such, are notoriously taken before bed; however, you needn’t worry about drowsiness if you decide to take it during the day. CBD oil tinctures can generally be safely taken at any point during the day to aid with overall wellness without the effect of drowsiness.

CBD products aren’t just a passing trend in the United States. CBD oil can be very effective when used in skincare products as it tends to have a calming, soothing effect on the skin, and can appropriately balance skin moisture levels without over-drying or over-moisturizing. CBD oil is also a great product for internal use when approaching your health from an all-natural, holistic standpoint.
