You’ve often heard you can sometimes have too much of a good thing. What can we say, there are those of us who are just prone to wanting more of the best and most enjoyable things in life. But when you do have too much of a good thing, the results are almost never good. In fact, they are typically anything but good. There are serious side effects and ramifications for overdoing it, as you have probably experienced in your life from time to time.

At KULCBD, we’re all about creating a health and wellness lifestyle that is balanced, and supports our bodies and minds as effectively as possible. We want to provide products to our customers that make them feel whole and well-rounded. Our line of CBD skincare and wellness products are designed to work concurrently with your already healthy, active, and well cared for lifestyle. Our beauty lineup includes an incredible set of products that will have your skin glowing and healthy within just a few uses. Our wellness products include CBD oil tinctures which contain 800mg of full spectrum, high quality CBD oil.

As producers of some of the best CBD oil products, we often get asked what would happen if you took too much CBD oil. It’s a great question, and one we feel is best served with a broader explanation about CBD oil, how it works, what it does and doesn’t do, and how much is needed for effectiveness. We stand by our products and their effectiveness, and are confident our users receive beneficial effects from them. If you’re concerned about proper dosage or what would happen if you inadvertently overdid it, we understand.

Let’s first take a look at some of the most important benefits of CBD oil. When used as a supplement to a healthy lifestyle, CBD can benefit you in the following ways.

Provides an overall soothing effect. CBD has some incredible soothing properties which make it a popular choice for people who suffer from occasional swelling and irritation both internally and externally.

Alleviates occasional pain. Because of the soothing properties of CBD, CBD oil is a great choice for an all-natural everyday pain reliever. In fact, you may be able to find temporary relief from joint pain by taking CBD oil, too!

Calms the mind. CBD has a calming effect that many have been able to harness to help support their mental health.

Soothes skin irritation. The appearance of skin redness, swelling, and overall irritation can be improved by the use of topical CBD oil treatments.

Promotes overall wellness. CBD oil is said to create an overall feeling of wellness in its users. When used topically, this is referred to as a “CBD glow.” This is likely from the heavy antioxidant load carried by CBD, which helps the skin fight off free radicals and can help soothe and calm your body holistically.

But what happens if you take too much? First off, let’s talk about how much you should take.

How Much CBD Should I Take?

Unfortunately, there’s no easy answer to this question. While CBD has been around for centuries, it is only in recent years that we’ve been able to manufacture it and distribute it on a commercial level. Additionally, CBD isn’t regulated by the FDA. This means that no matter where you get your CBD oil, you should ask if their CBD products have been third party lab tested.

Third party or independent lab testing means that the company providing the CBD product has paid an independent laboratory to test their products and provide a certificate stating that the amount and quality of CBD they say their products contain is true and accurate. You’ll be happy to know that KULCBD is always third-party lab tested, and you can find our certificates of quality assurance and analysis here.

Once you’re confident the CBD oil you are using is properly calculated, you can determine what dosage is best fitting for you. There is no “one-size-fits-all” dosage; in fact, a study in 2017 found that the needed dosage for each individual greatly varies. There are simply too many variables to determine a universal dose appropriate for everyone. Here are some factors to consider:

Age

Height and weight, and body chemistry

Why you are taking CBD oil

Amount of CBD in the particular product you are taking

These are all determining factors that will help a CBD user decide the amount of CBD they should take. Additionally, it is always recommended that you consult your healthcare provider first, to determine if you are able to take CBD, and if so, how much CBD you should take.

Once you have an idea of how much you plan to take, start slowly to ensure you tolerate it well. While CBD is generally well tolerated by most, it’s important to take CBD in a smaller dose than you plan to take regularly to determine if you experience any adverse effects from it.

What Happens If You Take Too Much CBD Oil?

You’ll be happy to learn that the World Health Organization (WHO) has deemed CBD to be one of the few drugs that has very little adverse health effects on the user. In fact, in their comprehensive report from 2018, the WHO determined that even a “toxic” dose (considered to be 20,000mg) of CBD was not necessarily lethal; it would have to be considered on a person to person basis, and for obvious reasons testing the lethality of a drug on a human patient is unethical.

Here’s a little crash course in CBD oil:

In extreme doses, CBD produced unwanted side effects like extreme lethargy, diarrhea, and stomach upset and discomfort. Keep in mind, however, that these results were after doses exceeding 1500mgs of CBD at once. Considering that a high-quality bottle of full spectrum CBD tincture may contain 800mg of CBD, it would be extremely difficult (and purposeful) to take a toxic amount of CBD.

Can I Get Hooked on CBD?

If you’re ready to try CBD and are afraid you could become dependent on it, or wonder if there is a high potential for abusing it, you’ll be happy to know that in the same 2018 report produced by the World Health Organization, they found no evidence that CBD produced physical dependence in users. This means that even if you use CBD on a regular, daily basis, your body will not become “hooked” on it, and you won’t experience any kind of withdrawals or side effects if you decide to abruptly stop taking it.

Additionally, the same report found that because CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid and does not produce any type of psychoactive effect, there is no risk of a user abusing CBD for purposes of “getting high.” This means that even if you are in a recovery program, you are likely a candidate for CBD usage. You will, of course, want to verify this information with your healthcare provider and as always, ensure your CBD oil is third-party lab tested so you know for certain what you are getting in your CBD oil.

How Can I Use CBD?

You can safely use CBD oil to support multiple areas of your body. One of the best and most effective ways to use CBD topically, is by incorporating it into your skincare lineup. KULCBD’s skincare products are some of the best available and contain only full spectrum CBD oil which is always independent lab tested for ingredient verification.

You can add CBD skincare into your regimen one product at a time, or for better results, use the entire four step system. Our system includes an exfoliating cleanser, anti-aging moisturizer for daytime, facial serum, and reparative nighttime moisturizer. These products are full of high quality CBD, multiple plant extracts, and a probiotic to keep your skin as healthy and glowing as possible.

You can also use CBD internally, by taking a CBD tincture. While some tinctures are laden with alcohol, QUL wellness tinctures use multi-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil as the dissolving solvent. MCT oil is a good fatty acid beneficial to the body in many ways. You can use a CBD tincture by taking it sublingually, or simply by adding it to your favorite drink or food dish. Using a CBD tincture is a great way to deliver the benefits of CBD to your body almost instantaneously.

If you’re ready to jump into the CBD game, give KULCBD’s Glow Kit a try. Not only will you receive our entire skin care lineup, you’ll also receive a CBD oil tincture. This kit can help you achieve a higher level of health and wellness and equip you with the proper CBD products to use both topically and internally for holistic wellness.

CBD oil is a plant-based oil that is generally well tolerated by most. It is gentle, yet powerful when treating certain ailments. While CBD is not psychoactive and cannot get a user “high,” will not create a physical dependence, and produces very little adverse health effects, it is important you speak to your healthcare provider prior to starting a CBD routine.
